Upgrades in hand after you play a card that costs more.
Corrupt is an ability introduced in Madness at the Darkmoon Faire which activates when the user plays a card with a higher mana cost than the Corrupt card's cost while in hand, causing it to transform into a Corrupted card and gain additional effects.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- Corrupt triggers on the current cost of both cards. Playing a card with a reduced cost will not trigger Corrupt if you paid less than the Corrupt card's cost. Conversely, lowering a Corrupt card's cost will make Corrupting it easier.
- Corrupt triggers when a card is paid with health instead of mana, such as cards affected by
G'huun the Blood God,
Bloodbloom and
Seadevil Stinger.[1]
- Unlike other in-hand transformations, Corrupt cards keep any in-hand enchantments when they become Corrupted.
- Corrupted cards with altered stats and/or cost count as cards that didn't start in your deck, meaning cards like
Leyline Manipulator and the
Sticky Fingers treasure in Duels activate on them.[2]
- As Corrupted cards with altered stats or cost count as different cards from their base forms, they do not keep the deck returning effect of
Secret Passage though other Corrupted cards with unaltered stats will be returned.[3]
