- Manathirst (X)
A bonus if you have X Mana Crystals.
Manathirst is a mechanic introduced in March of the Lich King. Cards with Manathirst gain additional effects after the player controls a specified amount of mana.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- The specified amount of mana doesn't need to be spent in order to activate the card's bonus effect. The player only needs to control that much mana.[1]
- Example: "Manathirst: (6)" means that if the player controls 6 mana crystals, the card's bonus effect will activate.
- Temporary mana crystals do not count for Manathirst effects; only permanent mana crystals do.
- For instance, playing
The Coin on turn 4 will not activate
Astalor Bloodsworn's bonus effect, but playing
Nourish on turn 4 will allow Astalor's Manathirst effect to trigger.
- For instance, playing
- Manathirst only activates on minions (and weapons) if the card is played from hand.
- For spells, in addition to activating when played from hand, Manathirst spells that are cast by other cards will trigger their Manathirst effect as long as the player has the required amount of mana.
- Manathirst is a seperate effect from Battlecries unless otherwise stated.
- If a card has both a Battlecry and a Manathirst effect, and the Manathirst effect uses the word "instead", the Battlecry can be thought of as being modified by the Manathirst effect. As such, cards that interact with Battlecries (such as
Brann Bronzebeard) take effect for these cards.[2]
- If a Manathirst effect does not use the word "instead", the Manathirst is considered its own effect, and isn't affected by Battlecry-related cards.[2]
