Starship is a mechanic introduced in The Great Dark Beyond. When a player's first Starship Piece dies in a game, a Permanent Starship is summoned for them. The Starship gains the effects and stats of each of the owner's Starship Pieces that have died this game, and can be summoned to the board by paying 5 mana.

All classes can build Starships, but only Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Druid, Hunter, Rogue, and Warlock have a unique version of the Starship.
- This change is purely cosmetic and does not affect the functionality of the Starship.
The Starship does not initially exist on the battlefield, but is only summoned when the player's first Starship Piece dies in a game.
Starships are Permanent, functioning similarly to Dormant minions.
At any point in the player's following turns, they can choose to "launch" the Starship by clicking on it and confirming the launch, as well as paying 5 mana to do so. Once launched, the Permanent Starship will be replaced with a minion that has the combined stats and effects of all friendly Starship Pieces that died that game (or after the launch of the previous Starship).
After a Starship is launched, the next Starship Piece minion that dies that game will summon a new Permanent Starship, restarting its progress (none of the stats or effects of the previous Starship will carry over to it).
Some cards have a condition that says "If you're building a Starship...". This condition is active as long as the player has a Starship on board waiting for launch, but hasn't been launched yet.
