Campfire's default look

Campfire is where the player completes tasks to claim the rewards and improve their collection.^[1]

In the campfire, the player can check all the tasks available to complete.
If a task has been completed, the player needs to go to Campfire to confirm and claim the rewards to make rooms for incoming tasks.
The player can inspect the details of a task by clicking/tapping on the task. In this scene, the player can also abandon a mercenary task, or check the countdown timer of an event task.

Task[edit | edit source]

Task is equivalent to quests in Journal. Each task has a goal or objective to complete. After completing a task, the player needs to come to Campfire and confirm to claim the rewards to make room for incoming tasks in the next days. The rewards are varied, from Mercenaries/Mercenaries Packs, coins, Mercenaries/Equipments, to even a Mercenary and Mercenary portrait.

As of Patch 23.0.0.135540, there are 4 types of tasks:

Story tasks are one-time tasks that can be completed at any time but cannot be abandoned.
- The first tasks guide the player the basic gameplay, mechanics, and other related stuffs in Mercenaries.
- A story task is always represented at the first slot (left-most and top-most) of Campfire.
A daily task is given to the player each day at 00:00 depending on the timezone of the region the player is chosen in the Hearthstone cilent (PST for America, CET for Europe; UTC+06:00 in Asia and China).
- The visitor is always Toki, Time-Tinker with the only task "Complete 2 Bounties" which rewards 2 coin drops, each containing 25 random coins. The task can be compeleted once per day.
- A daily task can be represented at the second slot (right-most and top-most) of Campfire. A daily task will be replaced by another event task if the event is live.
Event tasks are one-time tasks that can only be completed during certain time periods announced in patch notes. Event tasks first appear in Patch 22.2.0.130051.
- Whenever an event is live, the event tasks will be represented at the second slot of Campfire, replacing the daily task.
- When the player checks the details of the event task, a countdown timer can be seen at the place where the "Abandon" button was supposed to be, indicating how much time left the player can complete the event tasks until the event is over.
- When the event is over, the event task will disappear, and the daily task will be available at the same time.
- The event starts at 00:00 depending on the timezone of the region the player is chosen in the Hearthstone cilent (PST for America, CET for Europe; UTC+06:00 in Asia and China) and end at the same time period.
Mercenary tasks are one-time tasks that can be available at the remaining slots of Campfire. Each mercenary the player owns has a chance to assign their task. They are the main sources of claiming the Equipment and Mercenaries/Mercenary coins of that mercenary.
- Each mercenary has their own task chain, consisting of 18 tasks.
- The more upgrades to the Campfire, the more slots are available for mercenary tasks. Campfire is first available with 2 slots and can be upgraded to contain up to 4 slots.
- Mercenary tasks never intefere with the first and second slot of Campfire.
- Mysterious Stranger, which may appear as a Mystery in bounties, can give the player an extra mercenary task depending on the mercenaries in the party they are bringing.
- You can abandon the task (remove the task from Campfire temporarily) by clicking/tapping on the "Abandon" button below the portrait at the task-inspecting scene.
- Completing a mercenary task will give the player the next one until all tasks of a chain have been completed.^[2]

Since Patch 22.2.0.130051, for Mysterious Stranger, the player can hover over the portrait to see the task they will get at Campfire after they confirm.

Task progress rulings[edit | edit source]

Tasks in Mercenaries are widely known for hidden rulings and requirements that are not stated in the task descriptions. Generally:

Mercenary tasks with "Complete X Bounties", "Complete X Heroic Bounties" or "Complete a bounty while at level 30." require the mercenary to be in the party the player brings.
Tasks with "Destroy X minions" actually mean "Destroy X enemies", indicating that the player can destroy mercenaries or Mercenaries/Minions.
Tasks with "Deal X damage to <role name>" actually mean "Deal X damage to <role name> enemies".
Event tasks that require a minimum number of specific mercenaries do not require them to be all alive unless stated specifically in the description.
- For example: "Complete Heroic Onyxia Bounty with at least 5 Mercenaries/Humans in Mercenaries/Onyxia's Lair" requires the player to have at least 5 Human mercenaries in their party.
- For example: "Complete Heroic Balinda Bounty with all your Mercs alive in Mercenaries/Alterac Valley" requires the player to keep all of their mercenaries alive until the Bounty Boss encounter.

Visitor[edit | edit source]

Visitor is a character that assigns a task for mercenaries in Campfire. Generally, any mercenary can be a visitor, along with some special characters that are not considered mercenary.

Since Patch 23.0.0.135540, a task system rework has been active, allowing the next available mercenary task of a task chain to appear immediately as soon as the player completes the previous one.
Prior to Patch 23.2.0.137922, daily tasks wouldn't appear even if the player had finished all of event tasks until the event ended.
