The Trinket Shop

Trinkets in Battlegrounds are passive effects that players can buy for gold and use for the rest of the game.

Trinkets are offered twice per game, on turns 6 and 9. On each offering, the player can choose one of 4 Trinkets.

Notes[edit | edit source]

Trinkets are offered at the beginning of the turn.
  • Trinkets are split into Lesser and Greater Trinkets, specified on the bottom of the card frame.
    • Lesser Trinkets are offered on turn 6, and Greater Trinkets on turn 9.
    • Some Trinkets have both a Lesser and a Greater version, while others only exist in one category.
  • The player's current active Trinkets can be viewed on the left of their hero portrait.
  • Each Trinket costs a specific amount of Gold. This is a one-time purchase done at the beginning of the turn to gain access to that Trinket, leaving the player with less gold to use on turns 6 and 9 when Trinkets are offered.
    • The amount of Gold a Trinket costs is based on its power. Weaker Trinkets cost less gold, leaving the player with more gold to use on turns 6 and 9 to buy minions, while stronger Trinkets cost more gold, leaving the player with less gold to use for minions that turn.
  • The Trinkets a player is offered are influenced by their Hero, the available minion types in the game, as well as the player's current hand and board.[1][2][3]
    • Each time a Trinket is offered, it is randomly pulled from that pool of possible options. Developers may change the likelihoods of certain Trinkets appearing.[3]
  • Some Trinkets have an internal tag that ties them to a particular minion type. In each Trinket offering, the player will get at least one Trinket that has a type tag and at least one that does not have a type tag.[3]
  • Some of the typed Trinkets can only be offered if the player is "in" that type, meaning they have at least 2 minions of that type. The player can be in multiple types if they have 2 or more minions of unique types. Having more than 2 of a particular minion type won't change how likely it is that Trinkets relating to that type are shown.[3]
    •  Dragonwing Glider is an example of a typed Trinket that will only be offered if the player is "in" that type, while  Glowing Gauntlet is an example of a typed Trinket the player could always get.
    • Certain heroes always have particular typed Trinkets in their pool, even if they don't have minions of that type in their warband (e.g.  Queen Azshara always has access to Naga Trinkets).
    • Having 3 or more different minion types will place the player "in" the menagerie type.
  • The player won't be offered more than one Trinket for a minion type that isn't their most common type. If the player is offered a Trinket for a minion type that they don't have at least 2 of, the cost of that Trinket will be reduced by 1.[3]
  • In each Trinket offering, the player will be offered at least one Trinket that costs 2 or less.[3]
