Quality

Example cards of the four available qualities: golden, diamond, regular, and signature.

The quality of a card refers to its cosmetic variation. Cards are either regular in quality, or have one of the three premium qualities: golden, signature, or diamond.

The difference between different qualities of a card is purely aesthetic. There is no difference in gameplay or behaviour on the battlefield, and cards of different quality do not allow you to circumvent the 2-per-deck (1-per-deck for legendaries) card restriction.

Regular[edit | edit source]

Regular is the standard quality of cards. All cards can be regular.

Regular cards feature the default illustrations, and a class-coloured border.

Golden[edit | edit source]

Main article: Golden card

Golden is a special, rarer quality of cards. Every card can exist in a golden form.

Golden cards feature animated versions of the default illustrations, and a golden border.

Diamond[edit | edit source]

Main article: Diamond card

Diamond cards is an extremely special and rare quality of cards. Very few cards can be diamond, all of which are legendary minions as of 29.4.0.199503.

Diamond cards feature completely new 3D animations, more real estate for card art, and a diamond border.

Diamond cards are always uncraftable, and are usually given as a reward for collecting every legendary from the same expansion, unlocked in the Rewards Track, or purchased from the shop.

Signature[edit | edit source]

Main article: Signature card

Signature is a special quality of cards. As of patch 29.4.0.199503, only minions can have a signature version. All legendaries introduced in March of the Lich King have one.

Signature cards feature unique, monochromatic artwork and a special border, but are not animated.

Signature cards are always uncraftable. Legendary signature cards can be found in card packs, replacing a common.

Generated cards[edit | edit source]

Cards create cards of the same quality. This means that new cards or minions created by a card during a game will automatically copy its quality. This includes summon, generate and transform effects.[1][2] These means are the only way to encounter golden versions of uncollectible cards. However, cards can only be generated with a quality in which they are available, and otherwise they will default to being golden. For example,  Mind Spike does not have a diamond version, so diamond  Darkbishop Benedictus generates golden Mind Spike instead.
