Lore

Neptulon the Tidehunter is the Elemental Lord of water. Much like the other three, in past ages, he battled against the Titans as a servant of the Old Gods. However, he did not ally himself with Deathwing after the Cataclysm, and as a result, the naga and faceless ones, servants of the Old Gods, sought to capture him and the Abyssal Maw. Neptulon would later break free of his captor,
Ozumat, and return to the Abyssal Maw. Since the Cataclysm, Neptulon has rallied his water elementals to defend Azeroth on several occasions. The Farseer of the Earthen Ring convinced the Elemental Lord to pledge his forces to battle the Burning Legion during their third invasion. He also battled
Queen Azshara's forces during the Fourth War.
Trivia
- The artwork for this card comes from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game "Throne of the Tides" series, for the card Neptulon.
- Neptulon was going to be given his full title of "Neptulon the Tidehunter", similar to
Ragnaros the Firelord and
Al'Akir the Windlord, but the full name was "just barely" too long to fit on the card.[2] His title was however worked into the card's flavor text.
- Coincidentally, "
Neptulon the Tidehunter" was eventually used as the name of a new version of Neptulon in Throne of the Tides.
- Coincidentally, "
- "Neptulon was an interesting card we talked about with the designers early on - mostly about the flavor of Neptulon summoning Murlocs. He doesn't really do that in WoW, but the Murloc type is a cool part of Hearthstone, so the elemental lord of water summoning a host of his water-dwelling minions was a pretty cool concept."[3]
