Notes
To edit these notes, go to Template:Tunnel Trogg notes.
- If a spell with Overload is stopped by
Counterspell the player will not gain any Overload, and thus Tunnel Trogg will not trigger. However, regardless of order of play,
Unbound Elemental will still trigger, since you actually played a card with Overload.[1]
- Tunnel Trogg's ability triggers on the actual act of Overloading, and thus can be triggered by spells cast by
Yogg-Saron, Hope's End. See the associated section of the Advanced Rulebook for more details on the moment at which Tunnel Trogg will trigger.

Lore
Troggs are a race of primitive, aggressive and extremely unintelligent humanoids found on Azeroth. An Old God-warped deviation from one of the Titans' original designs for life on the planet, the neanderthal-like troggs possess little in the way of intelligence, but are still a dangerous threat when encountered. In Hearthstone, troggs are known for spell-related triggered effects.

- The troggs are the variation of humanoid created by the Curse of Flesh from the first type of Earthen created by the Titans. They retain the strength of the Earthen, but suffer from vastly reduced cognitive abilities.
Trivia
- Tunnel Trogg was "very close" to being nerfed with Patch 6.1.3 (October 2016), due to its presence in a number of aggro and midrange shaman decks which were considered overpowered at the time. However, the card's absence from a few of "the most powerful decks" meant the developers ultimately chose to weaken the class through instead nerfing
Rockbiter Weapon and
Tuskarr Totemic.[2]
- Tunnel Trogg's summon quote is likely to be a reference to a famous song "Tunnel Snakes Rule", considering the name of the card being Tunnel Trogg and the song being about Tunnel Snakes. Although this is most likely a coincidence.
