Demon Hunter Prologue[1] is a single-player mission added on April 2nd 2020, right before the release of the Ashes of Outland expansion.

The single-player solo adventure is found under the Ashes of Outland tab in the Solo Adventures screen.

Summary[edit | edit source]

The prologue to the story of the Demon Hunter is explained in a series of four boss matches against  Azzinoth, Xavius,  Mannoroth and Cenarius. The player takes the role of  Illidan Stormrage, with the first two boss fights with him as a mage, and the rest with him as his current demon hunter self.

Previously, defeating all four bosses unlocked the Demon Hunter class and rewarded you with all of the demon hunter Basic cards and the entire Demon Hunter Initiate set. The cards were locked from play until April 7, 2020, the date of release for Ashes of Outland.

The War of the Ancients was a major conflict which constituted the first coming of the demonic Burning Legion to Azeroth 10,000 years prior to the events of the First War. One of the largest and most costly wars in Azeroth's history, the War of the Ancients influenced the fate of all life on the planet for millennia to come. The conflict ultimately led to the Great Sundering, a cataclysmic event which tore the planet's landmass apart, thus altering its history permanently. It was the first time one of the Legion's invasions of a world had ever been stopped.
