Template:Grand Totem Eys'or strategy

On a surface level, this card's effect may look underwhelming and restrictive, as it targets specifically Totems, a limited pool not commonly found in Collectible cards, and its base stats, though not unimpressive for a Totem, are certainly not threatening. However, it should not be underestimated: the constant +1/+1 buff on other Totems that Eys'or provides can easily spiral out of control if it is left on the field for even two turns, and with its respectable 4 Health for 3 Mana, your opponent may have difficulties removing it. Shaman also has an easy way to create Totems consistently via their Hero Power, so targets for this card's buff are not as hard to find as it may seem at first.

To make the most out of this ability, players should include as many Totem cards as they can in their decks, so that the buff affects more than just the battlefield. Cards like  EVIL Totem or  Flametongue Totem that provide an ongoing effect and benefit from sticking around are prime targets.  Totemic Reflection and  Splitting Axe, though, are the cards to really watch out for, as they effectively help stack these buff effects, creating copies of the Grand Totem that buff each other. Aside from mass removal (eg.  Brawl,  Twisting Nether,  Plague of Death, etc.), Silence effects like  Consume Magic,  Mass Dispel, or  Showstopper are also an effective method to deal with buffed totems or Eys'or itself, as the majority of Totem minions have little/no base Attack.
