Notes

To edit these notes, go to Template:Fjola Lightbane notes.

  • This minion's triggered effect only activates from being specifically targeted by a spell from the controlling player. Area of effect spells will not activate it.[1]
  • Like all spell-triggered effects, this minion's effect takes place before the triggering spell completes. For example, casting  Inner Rage on this minion will result in it gaining Divine Shield, then losing it due to the damage from Inner Rage, without taking damage.[2] Additionally,  Counterspell will not prevent this trigger.[3]

Lore[edit | edit source]

Fjola Lightbane in World of Warcraft
"Only by working together will you defeat the final challenge. From the depths of Icecrown come two of the Scourge's most powerful lieutenants -- fierce val'kyr, winged harbingers of the Lich King!
 Tirion Fordring

Fjola is the twin of  Eydis Darkbane, two val'kyr who together feature as the Twin Val'kyr, an encounter in the Argent Tournament's Trial of the Crusader raid.

"The Twin Val'kyr, Fjola Lightbane and Eydis Darkbane, are a pair making up the fourth (and ostensibly final) encounter in the Trial of the Crusader raid. They both share the same health pool much like the Twin Emperors. Fjola and Eydis are two very powerful val'kyr that were originally sent by the Lich King along with their Vengeful Val'kyr army to disrupt, destroy, and terrorize the Argent Tournament and its citizens. But during this attack Argent Confessor Paletress comes to the defense of the tournament and battles the twins. Paletress is victorious, and Fjola and Eydis are captured. Their bonds are maintained by Priestess Alorah and Priest Grimmin. They later appear as the "final" challenge of the coliseum after the raid has defeated the Faction Champions.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Despite their obvious lore connection and significant card similarities (both 3 mana 3/4 legendary minions with very similar triggered effects), Fjola and  Eydis Darkbane have no specific synergy, aside from both fitting well in decks with lots of spells that target friendly minions.
  • "You have been measured and found wanting" is a modified quote from the 2001 film A Knight's Tale, which in turn references Daniel 5:27 in the Bible. It essentially means that someone is not acceptable; there is something lacking from their character.
