Probabilities of Discover cards[edit source]

How to tag Discover effect in Card infoboxes?[edit source]
When tagging cards such as

- Aha! You posted this question on an even more logical page for us to be discussing it :) Let me just restate what I said on your talk page for posterity...
- Out of the pre-existing cards (before Un'Goro) I could only find 2 Discover cards with "Random" and 1 with "Generate". (I went ahead and removed those tags, unless there was an additional random effect beyond the Discover.) I would say both tags are implicit in the Discover tag and we shouldn't add more - it would be redundant. However, if a Discover generates a specific KIND of card, we can tag that with Spell-generating, Beast-generating, etc. Some Discover cards use tags like Deathrattle-related instead of "Deathrattle-generating", which I guess is fine until we start seeing more of them, and then we can run a pass over them all and make it more consistent. But at least the Random/Generate question is pretty clear, I'd say. - jerodast (talk) 23:55, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
Tooltip text incorrect[edit source]
The tooltip text as shown on this page (which I assume is exactly as in the game, though I didn't check) is not entirely correct. It used to be when the discover mechanic was introduced, but now we can also discoved new hero powers (
Sir Finley Mrrgglton) or discover a minion that will be summoned instead of being added to your hand (Free From Amber). Also, I believe some tavern brawls have used the discover mechanic for uses other than just adding a card to your hand.
I think we should update the description here to reflect that discover does not always add the card to your hand. But should we also include a note to explicitly point out the error in the in-game tooltip?

- We can sure add a note that it's incorrect. IIRC the notes do mention the fact that Discover only adds new cards most of the time, but we can make that more prominent now that the tooltip is shown. I do think the tooltip with the exact text is a good thing, partly just to cite in-game information, and also to serve the same purpose it does in-game: provide a quick idea for what the ability does even if it's not precisely the whole story. - jerodast (talk) 17:23, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

Why is Glacial Mysteries listed here?
Also, although kazakus states "create" rather than "discover" a spell, the process by which he does it uses the discover interface, so it may be a good candidate for listing here.
