For information about the functionality of hero cards in general, see Hero card#Notes.
  • Death's Shadow will trigger and add a  Shadow Reflection to the player's hand during each of their turns, including the turn that Valeera the Hollow is first played.[1][2]
  • Shadow Reflection automatically leaves the player's hand at the end of their turn, meaning that it can effectively only be used to copy cards that cost 5 or less mana.[3]
  • At the start of turn, Shadow Reflection is added to your hand before drawing a card from the deck.
  • If a  Mindbreaker is in play at the start of the turn, you will not receive a Shadow Reflection. Because the Shadow Reflection is only added at the start of the turn or immediately after playing Valeera the Hollow, destroying the Mindbreaker will not immediately give you a Shadow Reflection in hand.
  • It's possible to have 2 copies of Shadow Reflection in your hand if your hero changes to Valeera the Hollow while you already have a Shadow Reflection in your hand.
  • It's possible to have 2 or more copies of Shadow Reflection in your hand if  Secret Passage is played multiple times with at least one Shadow Reflection in hand.[4]
  • Shadow Reflection is not affected by cost-reducing effects such as that of  Emperor Thaurissan. If the player uses  Preparation to reduce the cost of a spell, Shadow Reflection's copy of that spell will still have the spell's original cost.
  • Shadow Reflection can affect other cards which have permanent cost reduction effects such as  Frost Giant or  Arcane Giant.[1]
  • If you play a dragon minion that has a Battlecry that requires a dragon in your hand such as  Drakonid Operative, Shadow Reflection will copy that minion before the Battlecry checks for a dragon minion in your hand and causes it to activate even if you have no other dragon minions.
  • If Death's Shadow is copied by  Sideshow Spelleater, you get a Shadow Reflection added to your hand immediately.  Grizzled Wizard does not do this since the Hero Powers are being changed temporarily.
  • All Shadow Reflections will instantly disappear from your hand if Death's Shadow is replaced by another Hero Power, whether by changing it or playing another hero card.
  • Valeera the Hollow's Battlecry works by giving your hero Stealth, not itself. This is observable when combined with  Shudderwock.
