"Playing" article[edit source]

Do we have a useful "playing from hand" article for wikilinking to? Aegonostic (talk) 14:50, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

I don't think we have, but there is a short note about the distinction between summoning and playing in Minion#Summoning.— Preceding unsigned comment added by BigHugger (talk • contribs) 11:26, 4 May 2017‎
No. Currently general notes on "playing" a card are in the Card page, I think. I agree with your implication that a play page is a good idea :) It makes linking from Notes easier, it can emphasize the difference from simple summoning (or equipping, for that matter) right at the top, and it can summarize the main event sequences. - jerodast (talk) 15:38, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
I actually think it should be a even broader, as a page to clarify some common terms on card text that are potentially confusing. The verbs "summon", "play", can "cast" all have a very specific meaning that not everyone understands. And "before" and "whenever" have a very specific meaning in the context of each of those verbs. (I know there are more triggers than just these three but I don't want to suggest creating a copy of the advanced rulebook, just a basic explanation of the terms that are the most often misunderstood). -- BigHugger (talk) 17:43, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
Just noticed that there's also already this page: Put into battlefield -- BigHugger (talk) 18:50, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
Yes, there are individual pages for all the variations on these ideas, but not really a unified page. I began expanding Game terms to serve this purpose, feel free to add to it. - jerodast (talk) 17:52, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
I added a lot of explanation and examples to the play/summon/cast/equip distinction. I also have several ideas floating in my head for a section to explain the difference between "when"/"whenever" or "after" in the card text, but that will have to wait for later. -- BigHugger (talk) 20:22, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
