Does this card trigger the battlecry of the summoned demon? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.85.203.126 (talk • contribs) 07:24, 8 November 2013‎

Are you sure it can't summon Doomguard? If yes, why? Doomguard is a standard demon ^^ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.73.133.17 (talk • contribs) 15:40, 25 November 2013‎
Answers to both these questions can be found on the page and its references, apparently coming from Mr Brode himself ;) -- Taohinton (talk) 15:19, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Changes[edit source]

Have devs been talking about changing effect of this card any time in the future? Right now Bane is kinda dead because it can't summon the demons you would love to see.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.184.84.6 (talk • contribs) 12:02, 27 December 2014‎

This has been mentioned to the devs on numerous occasions. Thus far they have not announced any plans, and I doubt they will given their policy not to buff existing cards. That said, the forums are a better place for speculation and discussion regarding the card itself. -- Taohinton (talk) 21:40, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Possible minions section[edit source]

The demons in the table aren't visible to me. When I enter the editing mode and click preview, I can see them, however. Is this issue solely on my end?--Adûnâi (talk) 20:32, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

For me, on the regular page right now, the table is collapsed (shows only column headings) but present; I can click "show" to see the full table. It also has that irritating gap because the headings take up the full width of the screen so they are "pushed down" to below the end of the infobox. Aside from that I'm not seeing any issues. - jerodast (talk) 20:43, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
Although I just realized Imp is in the list despite being uncollectible... - jerodast (talk) 20:45, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
Yay. Banished! - jerodast (talk) 20:55, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
Adûnâi: Are still having problems seeing the table at all, or is it that the list is showing as empty? If so, are the lists on pages like  Piloted Shredder not working for you either? -- Taohinton (talk) 21:51, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
No, it's completely OK for me, I was confused with that gap created by the image.--85.222.116.254 23:36, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
OK. The gap is a problem on a few similar pages, due to the way the wiki handles tables. As a compromise, I've added a {{clrr}} above the section header, which will cause the gap to sit at the end of the Notes section instead of between the header and the table itself. I'm pretty sure the result is preferable, but I'm open to feedback. -- Taohinton (talk) 00:12, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
Your judgement is sound, I definitely like this better.
But it still makes me cry :P - jerodast (talk) 00:21, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Destroy hack[edit source]

The fact that they had to add in the destroy effect is actually really interesting. When you think about it, you realize that any "if it kills" condition basically creates a time paradox where the effect of the "if it kills" could prevent the "it kills" from ever happening. Their "destroy" solution they did works but is inelegant, I wonder if it would've been better to do a 2-part spell effect, where it deals the damage, then deaths are processed and only afterwards does it actually summon the Demon (similar to Poison Seeds, except the summoning is of course conditional).

I apologize this is only tangentially wiki-related...I suppose it seems worth mentioning because there may be other cards with similar phrasing and might have different mechanics? :) - jerodast (talk) 02:22, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

It's worth mentioning that  Mortal Coil, which has the same card text, does NOT set TO_BE_DESTROYED. However, there's also currently no card you can draw that will save the minion you targetted (for example, something that gained 1 Health per card in your hand via an aura would be saved, or a card that heals/buffs your minions when drawn would save it). Other than that, the four effects with a forced death phase should be mentioned:  Poison Seeds,  Reincarnate,  Mimiron's Head,  Sabotage (Why Sabotage too? I'm honestly not sure why they coded it with one, my assumption is the developer was told it shouldn't destroy Ashbringer from Tirion and wanted to make REALLY sure). --Patashu (talk) 04:44, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Bane of Doom vs non-Golden Heroes[edit source]

  • Someone added to the notes to say that it gives a golden minion when killing a non-golden Hero. While this doesn't matter very much, is there proof for or against this? --Patashu (talk) 07:45, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

Only card to have received a buff ?[edit source]

At the end of the "History" section, it says that Bane of Doom "currently stands as the only card in the finished game to have received a favourable change, aside from the minion type additions of Patch 2.0.0.7234.". Isn't this inaccurate, though ? From what I read of Sorcerer's Apprentice and Mirror Image, for instance, these cards were also buffed before Patch 2.0. It might be minor, but still worth changing. I wanted to ask before doing it, though.
