Potential misuse

Is there a reason to write [[wow:Hand_of_Argus|Hand of Argus]] instead of just {{wow|Hand of Argus}} [1]? -- Karol007 (talk) 00:18, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

The square bracket version is the original means of linking directly to Wowpedia, and the underlying wiki-mechanic for {{wow}}, too. I made the template long ago to make linking less onerous - and boy am I glad I did! Functionally there's no difference (unless we someday change the template), it's just a lot easier to use the template. Most uses of the square brackets version are from before I made the template, or by people who don't know how to use it. -- Taohinton (talk) 23:00, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
