Monstrous Macaw is the centerpiece of Beast builds that rely on Goldrinn, the Great Wolf. With Goldrinn, a swing with Macaw gives an enormous amount of stats to all your Beasts, which can be combined with Baron Rivendare for an even larger boost (and this can be further increased if Macaw, Goldrinn, and/or Rivendare are made Golden). A build with Macaws, Goldrinn, Rivendare, and a few other Beasts like Cave Hydra can easily overpower most other compositions short of Murlocs with Poisonous.

In the mid-game, Macaw is a decent pickup should you have Deathrattles that do not spawn minions, such as those of Spawn of N'Zoth, Selfless Hero, and Kaboom Bot. However, Monstrous Macaw synergizes poorly with Deathrattles that spawn minions.
