Like other tribe-based heroes, the success with Chenvaala is largely dependent on rolling minions from the elemental tribe early. If you did get your Tavern Upgrade discount quickly, the loss of tempo from rerolls or buying weaker Elementals can be made up with high-tier minions and extra minion rolls. Under the right conditions, Chenvaala can comfortably level up to Tier 5 or 6, letting you find build-defining minions like Lil' Rag and Brann Bronzebeard early.

Early game, grab every Elemental you see. The faster you can get your upgrade discount going, the better you will do. Mid-game, you should still try to grab as much Elementals as possible, but you may have to pick up a better-statted minion of a different tribe instead if you are about to lose. Late game, depending on how well you're doing, you can start switching gears to a late-game build. You can even go for a non-Elemental build since the discount becomes useless once your tavern level is maxed out.
