Card images[edit source]

Guys, we really need to put the card images up, the non-golden and golden versions of the Battlegrounds cards, and the non-golden and golden versions of all the "token" cards. Aegonostic (talk) 18:38, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

Timer[edit source]

Can we have a clearer idea on how to timer works? Currently it's obviously wrong. I've had tavern rounds where I had more than 80 seconds.

How I interpret it is that tavern phases cap off at at least 60 seconds, and people who have shorter combat phases experience a longer turn. I've had turn timers lasting over 100 seconds in the late-game when I had a short combat phase. However, that's my personal experience and I cannot verify it. Cactusisawesome (talk) 09:31, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
I think the timer caps around 100, but it starts during the Battle phase. The longer your Battle phase, the shorter your Tavern will be. That's because two players having long Battle phases would make players with short Battle phases go out of sync. Sorry for not making any of that clear; I originally wrote this article after my second ever Battlegrounds game. A lot of the initial stuff was guesswork. I would however like an official word on how long the timer is and how it scales. TheMurlocAggroB (talk) 22:59, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
When ever the timer starts, what we've listed is incorrect. I timed the combat phast of my second turn in a game, which lasted around 15 seconds, but still had 30 seconds to spare in the tavern phase. Cactusisawesome (talk) 00:25, 4 January 2020 (UTC)

Golden cards format, going to start propagating beyond Tier 1[edit source]

I've let the Tier 1 golden card pages sit for a long while, I think the new format for golden-specific cards is a good one, so I'm going to start propagating the format beyond Tier 1 starting sometime soon maybe? The two prime formats:

  • Cards found only in Battlegrounds (as of now) (might change in future *gulp*):
    • Wrath Weaver
    • Wrath Weaver (golden)
  • Cards found in and outside of Battlegrounds:
    •  Vulgar Homunculus
    • Vulgar Homunculus (Battlegrounds)
    • Vulgar Homunculus (Battlegrounds, golden)

Of course. I'm actually taking care of Galakrond's Awakening related pages so I really don't have time to manage Battlegrounds related pages. Feel free to change if their format is not matched. As soon as I finish the adventure pages, I'm going to revise the Battlegrounds ones and see if any other change is needed.Use25 (talk) 17:44, 25 January 2020 (UTC)
Ok, thank you for all that work. :) I'll start the golden pages propagation sometime soon. Aegonostic (talk) 00:30, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
Ok, so I feel like this propagation is going to be postponed a bit longer, because I still don't really see the best/correct format to propagate. Link to relevant discussions if people want to chip in: Talk:Red Whelp (Battlegrounds) and File talk:Tabbycat (Battlegrounds) Gold.png. I want to create the golden pages, but I think I need some more time to see how things go. Aegonostic (talk) 00:30, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

Where/how are you saving the golden card images? I can find some on hearthpwn but they are in video format. Others are missing altogether (e.g: Steward of Time (Battlegrounds))
I open them in Paint, then save as png and remove white background here: https://www.remove.bg/ Podstail12 (talk) 20:41, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

Patch notes[edit source]

The patch notes section of this page is getting fairly long, and it's going to get exponentially longer. Would anyone be in favour of moving the patchnotes to a separate dedicated page, called Battlegrounds/Patch notes? TheMurlocAggroB (talk) 19:32, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

I am in favor of moving the patch notes to that subpage, the patch notes are definitely getting a bit long. Aegonostic (talk) 21:17, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
Maybe it's better to use a page like Battlegrounds patches rather than a subpage, for easier wikilinking and also I'm not a big fan of using subpages for potentially noteworthy articles. Aegonostic (talk) 20:21, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
Fair enough. I'll give it a couple days and see if any else has opinions. TheMurlocAggroB (talk) 22:16, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
I don't think long patch notes are going to be a big problem. For one, there isn't much after the patch notes, so that wouldn't impact anyone's viewing experience. If it really was a problem, we could make it retractible and keep it on the same page. For me, it gets really annoying to have to navigate different pages to find information that could be easily on the same page with such a slow connection I have. On top of that, it would create confusion over the current patch notes we have. If we were to a Battlegrounds patch page then we should have a constructed counterpart as well, and if didn't make a constructed counterpart to the Battlegrounds patch page then should we remove changes to Battlegrounds on the current article about patches?Cactusisawesome (talk) 00:39, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
There is a constructed counterpart (of sorts). That said, I agree with your points. If the section does ever become too long, a retractable section is probably the better solution. TheMurlocAggroB (talk) 05:18, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
Maybe a retracted patch notes section, but still showing the most recent and relevant patch(es). Aegonostic (talk) 07:12, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

damage to minions achievement[edit source]

right now I'm trying to do the weekly quest of 1500 damage and was curious about something...

Say I have a 9/1 minion who attacks a 1/1 minion...

Do I achieve 1 damage or 9 damage from that?

IE is it the "damage the attacker did" or "the life the minion lost" ?

I'm asking because I'm noticed that it seems to be the former in cases of stuff like life leech: even when targeting a 1/1 minion it seems useful to have higher attack or damage buffs because you heal more even though you don't need that damage to kill them.

I don't know if that's the case here. I guess I could find out by summing damage during Battlegrounds but it happens very quickly (can't pause like when fighting AI) so it's hard...

It's too bad the quest achievements only update at the end of battle. If there was a toggleable option to let them constantly update throughout a battle then it would be easier to notice how situations like this are interpreted. Tycio (talk) 16:46, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

tiers and available minions[edit source]

When you upgrade tier from 1 to 2, does that mean ONLY tier two minions are available, or just that instead of just tier 1 displaying it's tier 1+2 ?

I've seen a mix so I'm guessing it's the latter...

Which I guess means that if people start buying up the tier 1 minions it makes more tier 2 ones tend to appear for those who have upgraded?

This also sounds like you would eventually run out of tier 1 minions to select. Tycio (talk) 16:59, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

battlecries question[edit source]

confused about this part:

Triple Cards are added to your hand from the battlefield, allowing you to reuse their Battlecries.

I thought battlecries were just temporary buffs during battle which you lost?

Or... do they also count PERMANENTLY when you move a purchased minion from hand>field during the tavern?

If so: there's definitely a learning curve here! I should find some way to replay the tutorial... Tycio (talk) 17:10, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

reduced availability due to purchases from other players[edit source]

One thing I'm wondering: if players later sell back a purchased unit, does that upgrade the previously-downgraded availability, restoring it to prior status? Tycio (talk) 19:10, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Should the speculated future additions section just be removed at this point?[edit source]

The only thing in there is a leak from early 2020 that I don't think they're ever going to add. They removed Nightmare Amalgam a while ago, so I doubt they'd add in another amalgam. It doesn't even mention Quilboars, so it's clearly pretty outdated. Naplock Blubba (talk) 23:02, 18 August 2021 (UTC)

Wrong number of total heroes[edit source]

I'm not so familliar with wiki editing, so I didn't know where to adress this issue
