Template:Darius Crowley (hero) strategy

Darius works around the use of his cannons, which is an effective board-clearing tool that players will use to clear a path for minions. This works best when the cannons are diagonally placed so they can hit two at a time, and later in the game when the first shot will kill at least one minion so a 2nd shot can be fired. If only one minion is killed, playing another low-cost minion to re-position the cannon back to diagonal is usually needed.

Any typical Warrior deck archetype will work well with him, but if players focus on upgrading the cannon with a passive, they should consider picking up cards that would affect/react to your hero power, as your cannon/s will trigger those effects a lot throughout the run. One such card Darius begins with is  Lowly Squire.

It is tempting to play the squire early on to gain lots of damage, but he is an easy target for the enemy, so it could be more secure behind a taunt minion for later battles. In early battles, it's better to Face anyway and not worry about protecting the squire.

Another useful path for Darius is taking the Caltrops route (pre-damaged minions are easy to finish off with canons if not killed outright) or the Health+2 / Heal 2 path which should keep your minions alive and able to weaken foes for the cannons to finish off.

Placement of the cannon should usually be done centrally to make sure it can easily hit 2 minions, though alternatively if an enemy is nearly dead and has a taunt minion up, moving the cannon to a far side can let it shoot past minions to hit the hero and finish them off.
